I take old welding cables we can't use anymore, thanks to OSHA, cut to length. Take a 3in piece of 5/8in soft copper, smash the end flat drill a hole in it and solder it on, stick at least an inch or more for a good joint. I use Laco self cleaning flux, and 50/50 solder

Cmore: The place I find the very best are repair shops for heavy trucks. I bought wire from them bulk last year complete with solder on ends. These products are real nice to work with. You just cut the wire to length, cut the wire covering back far enough so bare exposed wire will fit in the end. Put on a good coating of solder paste, put the end in a vise, install the wire, heat the end until the solder melts into the sleeve of the end. I used to have them make them for me and last year when I was there, he was busy, and not going to be able to get to for awhile. He said, " You can make these up." I did and now I know how well he was getting paid for his time.
