I took Hugh M.'s advice and put a larger battery cable on my 340 Farmall with a 6V system. It just wouldn't crank over fast enough to fire up or the starter was taking all the juice needed for the plugs, but when I hooked up that new 2/O cable it jumped to life so fast it scared me. Thanks for all the good advice on this forum. PUTTER

Putter: So you were a bit skeptical. Nice to know I turned you into a believer. There is actually only one good reason to turn a 6 volt Farmall into a 12 volt Farmall. That being if you want to run a 12 volt motor off your electrical system. Every 4 cylinder gas Farmall that was ever manufactured as 6 volt will start 6 volt in Alaska or Syberia year-a-round.

I will whole heartedly go along with changing to an alternator, but keep it a 6 volt alternator. If you question what I am saying go to your computer search and type in ( 6 volt alternator ) an excellent site.
