Were any Hs built without a chassis serial number ? There does not appear to be any rivet holes in the left side bell housing, nor any mark on the right side frame rail. Most of the castings are from March or April 1940 (sn FBH 23854).

Do not know about H but I have M with castings from that time and it has tag in normal place. Tag is put on with very small screws instead of rivets. If tracor has been painted with tag removed doubt if you could find screw holes as they are very small.

I don't think so. It is possible that you don't have the original frame rails, or even the clutch could have been replaced with a new one, perhaps it wasn't drilled.
