Got my generator back from the shop today. They put a new regulator on and changed it to a one wire system. Now it charges but at low RPM's the amp needle spikes to 20 and back to 0 several times a minute. At higher RPM's its not so bad but still moves from 0 to 10 or 20. Whats going on??? Robert

Robert - I presuming what you've got on your H is an internally regulated "1 wire" alternator. (There's no such thing as a 1 wire generator)

Anyway your problem is probably the alternator drive belt is too loose. Tighten it up and the ammeter should now hold steady. If it does not something's wrong with the regulator inside the alternator.

You must mean a one wire altanator never heard of a one wire generator. Check all of your connections if all good then you will have to return it to the shop to have them check it out, sounds like a lose connection somewhere.

Never heard of a one wire generator -- Wire it according to the diagram in the operator's manual, or use one of Bob M's diagrams -- he will probably answer.
