I have a farmall H that has been in my family for
30 years, i am trying to tell what year it is, but
the tag with the serial number is missing. is there any other way to tell????

The casting dates end with a letter, which indicates the year. For example P is 1946, Q is 1947, etc. I think the date codes are on this web site somewhere.

Look on the right hand side of the block, at the top, and near the front. Directly underneath the #1 spark plug. There will be a small raised flat spot on the block. You will probably need to clean the paint/grease off here but underneath there will be a serial #. This is the number of the engine and should be close to that of the tractor. there are casting codes on all the cast parts. letter at the end of code will tell you when casting was made. should be close to year made. whats the codes?

The castings end with E and the # on the engine
right under #1 cyl is FBN-96322 HA 5X5. Does this
help any ?????
