I have an M with out a serial tag but have found FBK 2590 stamped on the top side of the frame rail right under the distributer. Would this be the serial numer? I have read that the serial number starts with FBK.

First 39's had the engine s/n, and chassis s/n the same and the number in the frame rail matched both.

Paul G. the engine serial number should be stamped on a flat boss just above the No. 1 plug. With serial no. 2590 you have a '39 model M. Tom

Paul, there should be a serial number on the engine on the right front under the generator mount. If the tractor has not had the engine changed this should be the same number as the tractor. I think, Ed

I looked for that number on the engine but couldnt find anything that made any sence. Next time I am out there I'll right down all the numbers there and see if anyone can help me.

Early tractors were ID'd like that. Check the serial # list to the left of this page for the year.
