Hi

We have a less than loved IH706D with the German 310 engine. Have just installed a new top end kit in the 310 engine, and put it back together. However, she won't start! We're running just the basic motor - most of the electrics are disconnected. The engine turns OK, but won't fire even with an ether spray. In that case, can rule out the pump and the injectors. Any ideas?

Saw a reply in the list about recessed valves being a problem??

Any really obvious gotchas here, 'cos I think we have fallen for one of them...

eg what tension should the head bolts be at?

Check you valve adjustment. If the valves are over adjusted it won't have any compresion and thats why nothing will fire.

You didnt mention whether or not you bleed the injectors?

I'm not the mechanic - but we took one of the injectors out, and there was diesel spraying out of that. There was also diesel dripping from the return feed line to the fuel tank.

However, I can't say that we actually bled the injectors. Good idea! Thanks.

u need to find a c-263 gas suckin' hawg and put in that pig and then atleast you'll know it will run and it will be a lot simpler to work on.. plus they start much better... just pry your wallet open everytime u need to run her cause you'll need to put gas in that pig, but it will pull like hell... so, sell thaT diesel and get a gas..... ... gas power!!!!! !!!!! !!!!!

Hi, just an idea, is the injector return line is below the injector? You can install the injector with the return line over there,on this engine, but the engine wont fire. Bernard le mécano
