Will a wide front off of a IH-400 fit an H. I was told that the 400 did not offer a wide front? If it will fit are there any changes nessary to make
it work?

I took a Schwartz wide front off of a 450 and put it on my H. Worked good.

Original IH would be more difficult. The casting for the rear stay rods is too wide for the H frame. You would have to build an adapter plate - also will need to change the steering arm to fit the H.

Just buy a Schwartz, they are built better anyway!

I hope someone gives you a straight answer. I think it will fit, but it is not a direct bolt on, so don't take my word for it (then why did I answer?) All letter series and numbered series Farmalls except the B were available with a wide front.

Hey Dave-Id,
Do you have a wide front end for an H?? I got confused with all the talk about wives?? How about some details on the H front end if you do have one. Thanks

Dave, do you have an extra wife as well. You can ship her by Greyhound.

I have an X-wife you can have, but you'll have to come get her. She's a good worker out in the woods, but doesn't take any interest in tractor restoration.

Sounds like she might be heavy-duty. I really don't want to go to the freight terminal to take delivery. She probably wouldn't like being shrink-wrapped to a pallet anyways.
