I would like to know what year this tractor was made. Serial# is B500001B007740-X. I appreciate everyone's help. I couldn't find a model 584 in serial number section at the left of this page. Also what might this tractor be worth with a bad engine? Assume the block is good. Thank you for your help. Steve Norwood, Texarkana.

According to Machinery Link your tractor was made in 1981 and worth $6,500 in average condition. There are several dealers on the net that will sell you a remanufactured engine and give you a credit for your block. Like Jonathan said if the rest of the tractor is in good shape, a $1,500 to 2,500 investment in a rebuilt engine might be worth considering.

Thanks Jonathan and SEL. It's my wife's Uncle's tractor. He plans to take it to Brinkley Auctions in Idabel, and sell it as salvage. Thanks again. Steve.

I can't tell you much about the year, but I do know a tractor with a bad engine isn't worth very much. I'd say problaby $2,000-$2,500 tops, because you always have to expect the worst case scenario, which would be the replacement of the whole engine. Is this something that has been setting around for awhile or smething that is still in use, but knocks, or uses alot of oil?. How are the tires and paint?. 2wd or 4wd?. Does it have a T/A and is it good? any other known problems?. Those answers will help determine a better estimate of value.
