Well guys. I just got back from my dad's funeral. He was killed in an accident last week in Kentucky doing what he loved to do.
If ever there was an International/Farmall buff it was him. He had restored a few, but most of his collection of tractors are working, rebuilt, running, working Farmalls and Internationals. I have not decided what I will do with his collection of running/not running/partically restored collection. They fill two barns in Southern Indiana. He has a few Olivers and John Deeres thrown in, one new...the others old.
If ever there was a man who loved old red tractors and knew them from top to bottom, it was him. I will miss my dad and tractor buddy.

Hi Bill: So sorry to hear of your dad passing on. Guess we all reach that stage. Not to fur from that meself. Onto the seventy mark. Worked on those RED ones a good long while, and enjoyed it till Case came along. Oh well what can I say. Thirty some years, but still have the memories thank God. Take care friend, I'm sure he's in good hands. Less of us around each day. But you know what? Those Damn tractors, the RED ones I mean, I'll bet they will be around for ever. ??? OLD DUTCH

Bill, If you have to get rid of them, pick a couple tht you know were his favorites, and carefully place them where you know where they are, and the folks may let you get 'em back. One thing I never wanna have to do is go looking for one of Dad's tractors! I know where they are, and where they'll stay 'till we're both gone! Pete

Bill, I am real sorry about you losing your Dad, I lost mine 18 years ago and I still miss him, but time will help. I worked side by side with mine for 25 years. You have memories and I hope pictures, and you will find in time you will enjoy them more and more. Jim King in SW MO.

Yes Jimmy, I do. And thanks to all of you guys. Dad was 79, and he was just getting good at finding and reading the posts on this forum. I will miss him badly.

I knew your Dad! At least I know about him. He was one of those old guys you run into at the auctions that know all about the equipment and will take the time to tell you about it. Am I right? I learned everything I know about farming, tractors, etc from guys like him. If I am right, then your loss is our loss. Sorry to hear of it.

Yes, you are correct...when it came to talking,...he was like the energizer bunny, he kept going, and going, and going. And, he was at every auction and show he could get to.

Bill, if there's silver lining here it's that you said he died doing what he loved. When my dad passed away he was lyin' in a hospital bed wasting away with leukemia. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I know how you feel. I lost my two biggest resources a few years ago when my grandfather and great uncle died a week apart. Now it's a full time job keeping everything in the shed going. Luckly I have some help.
