Just rebuilt lower end of engine on SMTA. While I had the distributor and hydraulic pump off I put in new set of points and condenser. All back together and wouldn't start, no fire. Pulled distributor cap and realized the shaft wasn't turning. Quick check of memory indicated all under front cover was ok. Removed distributor and found the pin that hods the drive gear for the distributor was sheared. Removed the plate the points mount to and found the metal plate below it was all bent up. Only thing I could figure out was that I had put the wrong screw in the points, the one that was supposed to go in the condenser, and it caught on the lower plate. Got it all straightened out but wondered for a while if I was gonna need another distributor. Now just trying to figure out how to retime.

This is a common mistake. You were lucky shaft is usually bent when this happens.

I never had a distributor disassembled, but the IT Manual has detailed instructions on reinstalling one in proper time.
