I have a 1949 Farmall and would like to convert it to a 12 volt system. Is there a kit out there for this or instructions available?

I am slowly converting all my small farmalls back to 6 volt. They are more in demand by collectors if they are original and I have had lots of trouble with ring gears and starter drives since switching. If you had to change one ring gear you would think twice about swithing to twelve volt. A well tuned tractor will start fine with a 6 volt, they have for sixty years. A M with higher than stock compression is another story, but you can get 8 volt battery that fit that will give you a bit more kick. Just my experience...

Ken: If you go to the left of your screen under Research and Info, go the articles, find an article by Bob M. His article is complete with diagrams. Bob is on here most days and will also be most helpful should you have any questions.
