I see this 560D in the photo ads, and I was wondering if those were the correct fenders on it?. I thought the 560 had the small clamshell type like on the H's and M's. No big deal really, but I was just wondering if they were the right ones, they do look really good, and no doubt would be better at catching the mud that the tires throw a whole lot better than those clamshell ones.

Flat top fenders were not available for the 40-60, and early 04/06 series. But I do like the looks of them on the 460/560's and would even consider putting a set on my own 560. The ones in the picture are Oliver fenders. The fenders that were available for the 40/60 series were more curved over the tires than the old clamshell type for the H and M models.

Are those IH or Oliver fenders? Look alot like what Oliver 1750s, 1850s, etc. had on them.

Jonathan: You are right the fenders that came on Hs, Ms and 560s didn't keep much mud off you. I can remember many times with 300 and later 560 driving through a rut with water in it. Since the rut was usually made by the same tractor, on the seat it was often a pressure wash of muddy water.

I put a set of these flat tops on my 560 that came from my 656 when I installed a cab. I liked the flat tops much better on the 560 than on the 656. On the 656 for example if you were planting corn or drilling grain at night, and the foreward position of the seating of 656, when you turned on the headland the glare of the lights prevented you from seeing the drill and row marker marks on the soil. Because your operator position on 560 was well behind the lights I found them much better on there than where originally intended. They also looked very sharp on a 560. On the 656 I mounted the lights on front of cab, thus eliminating that problem also.

I think the guys that designed head lights in flat top fenders, for tractors with foreward operator position never actually used them much. If you notice the two lights in each fender only stayed around for 06 and some of 56 series. Then they went to one light in fender and one in grill. You could then set the one out front for distance and point the one in fender down for close up of ground. I never really used one of those as my tractors after that all had cabs with lights on front of cab or in grill. John Deere and others were just as bad with lights in fenders.

I was thinking they problably came off a 656. I have used tractors with lights on the fenders and I wasn't all that impressed. I used a white 2-155 and thats all it had for working lights was 1 fender light on each side, and it wasn't enough to work at night with because about all I could see was the tops of the front tires. I also appreciate good fenders and I don't care to get mud all over me, but thats what happens when I use our Farmall H with the clamshells, especially with tire chains. No, I'd leave them alone if the tractor was mine, but I was just curious as to if those were the correct ones. Thanks everyone!

Looks a lot more functional with the lights high and outward of the frame of the loader to me. If it was mine I'd leave the fenders alone.

560 had clamshells but they were different from the H and M. The edge of the fender was rolled about three inches. Flattops came in during the 04 and 06 production run. They could be had with the 504 and up. Not sure about the 404 but probably not.

I agree with Farmer Bob they look work good. As a matter of fact they could be 4" wider to do an even better job of protecting the driver with those wide tires. Warder is correct that flat tops came in during the 06 series but the series started with clam shells. Allways for bigger fenders. Dick Davis
