I just wanted to let everyone know I was at a antique pull today and 80% of the tractors were John Deeres. Nothing against the JD ( I own one out of my 6, the rest is RED) The 460 Took the cake with a full pull and some left (10,000 LB class). The fans there were not cheering but I was. Oh by the way I was in SC just South of Columbia, SC. IT sure is amazing how certain areas of just one State can vary in the sorts of fans and tractors are at a show and a pull. I enjoyed the day and thought I would share this.

you say this is an antique tractor pull?, I don't think that it is a stock antique tractor pull, any tractor that is designed to be around 50 horsepower, an weigh around 6000 pounds will run out of power well less than 10000 pounds, I am sure that a international 6 cylinder motor is easy to make extra, non stock horsepower, but in now way is that relevant to what the tractors can do on a farm day in and day out, you would tear up any 50 horsepower tractor of any brand running it at 10000 on a daily basis

I would have to disagree with what Earl posted above. I pull my Farmall 560 in the 10,000 lb class, and when i dynoed it, it showed 50 horsepower. The rings are wearing out on it, so it has a lot of blowby. I pull that class with it in 1st, torque on the low side, and haven't ran out of power yet. The last track was even pulling uphill!!

We use to pull 560's at 10,500 in dead weight pulls, 460 has same rear end. The others are right when have you seen a stock tractor at a pull,no matter what hp you are running its never enough, I never heard anybody say I have to much HP.

So I guess you've never spun out at a pull. Thats exactally the reason you spin out, too much HP for the track.
A buddy of ours pulls against the EICTPA boys in Hot Farm at 8500# wiht a stock 560. It's possible if you're smart about it.

Now let me get this straight. You pulled your stock 50hp 460 in the 10,000 pound class, made a full pull and was still going? A 460 only has a shipping weight of 5500 pounds. Are you saying that you packed 4500 pounds on it? There are a lot of antique tractors with a whole lot more HP than a 460 that pull in the 10K class. 50HP tractors do not do well in a 10K class. If your tractor is pumped up then admit it.

Chenango County Fair in Norwich, NY. August. A couple of hours of stock antique tractor pulls, then farm stock, farm unlimited, then super and modified. Good times.

Any pull I go to has at least 2 "stock" tractors pulling. Me and my uncle both pull "stock" tractors, which we farm with. Personally if ya can't plow all day with it and not worry about blowing something up then you shouldn't pull it.
