Well after a few hours and $178 in parts the 454 is up and running again! Running better now than when parked back in 2000. The only problem I have is I have to run with the choke partially on inorder for it to run. Open the choke completly and it dies, choke if off a bit and it'll run great. Any ideas? All I've done running wise is rebuild the carburator and replace the electric shut off selonid. The points look ok, same with the cap and rotor. The plugs and wires are so so. A full tune up is coming. Thanks!

Still sounds like you have carb problems you probably have some junk in the main jet

I too have a choke problem. Open the choke full and it will stall. Close the choke and the tractor will run however, when you put it under a load, it will stall. It is a farmall H. The carb was just reconditioned and put on.

Any suggestions?

Thank You

You may have an intake leak or manafold problem

Not to sound dumb, but which jet is the main jet? The IT manual I have shows more adjustments than what my carb has. Example, manual shows a main fuel adjustment on the fuel inlet. I've got the fuel line and two plugs...

On most carbs for farmalls the mian jet is at the bottom up front below the govornor tube, haveing to choke it to keep it running tells me you have a clogged main jet and or passage ways in the carb

Thanks! I'll pull the carb back off and tear it down again. The tanks are full of rust so it'll be a good time to do some flushing
