I am in the process of changing my uc-60 to using the mag distributor with a coil, and using a battery. Put in new points and condenser, unhooked the internal wire, timed it according to the cub manual, and the points fire about 15-20 degrees later than the mag "trips", making the timing about 20 degrees retarded instead of right on TDC. Engine wont run. Any help?

Make sure that the rotor is lined up with the terminal when it fores. When you put the new points in you changed the gears that run the rotor and got it off a few teeth.

Set the timing so that spark occurs at TDC when cranking. When the engine comes up to speed, and the impulse drops out, the spark will advance by 20-30 degress to running timing.
