How rare is a McCormick No. 76 combine? My neighbor has one with a 6 ft Hume reel. Pretty nice and always shedded.

My friend picked one up for free at the local auction, as it didn't sell and was told if he picked it up he could have it. Runs perfect, and found out only about 500 were made. Over shadowed by the much improved 80 and 82's, 76's have diminished and finding one in good shape is a nice find. I'm so ticked about my friend taking the combine the day before I asked about it, but I've used it on his farm more than he has... using it wasn't the issue, it's just playful anger that he is the legal owner simply because he beat me to it.

Bill I would say one in good condition today would be very rare, in their day many of them. I am and have always been an IHC man except on combines thought the MH Clipper was much better, they also would be rare today in good condition.
