Went to the local IH dealer today to get a carb rebuild kit for the 454. $79.00 for rebuild kit. That doesn't include the float, choke linkage rod, butterflys, or electric selonid valve. I knew it was going to be expensive but WOW!

The kit included: gaskets, butterfly shaft, needle valve, screws, brass freeze plugs, and some other parts (kit must be for more than one carburator). So I used probably 25 pieces of a 40 piece kit. Not because I didn't want to change them...the extra parts are not made for my carburator

If it is fixed and you're happy with it and you got away under $100 you did good.

$1,500 and all you get is just the tank and the fuel cap. The fuel guage unit is extra. I'm sure glad I didn't need one!.

Wow, that's pretty scarey stuff. Especially as my 484 tank leaks a bit when it's full.
I'm lucky though because here in the UK we've got a fairly good supply of spares and parts off broken tractors.
I use one guy who deals in IH tractors and nothing else. i think he'd be happy to ship to the US - if you need an email address I'll send it on.
