Men need info on the I H 230 Swather. Need to know what motor it has on it. Tag on swather says it was made in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I am hoping it has the same motor as the 504 tractor. Thanks for any and all help. Tom

Tom: I can't find anything specifically on the 230. I did find some literature on machines such as 175 and 275 and these machines go up to 24' headers and only using a 37 hp engine. It doesn't say which engine but my guess is it would be the C-135 used in tractors like 340 and 404 rather than the C-153 used in the 504. I think that 230 swather is an older version of the 275, not sure though.

Hugh this machine has a 12' head and the planetary steering like the 91 combine. It is going to be sold at auction Sat. 4-3-04. It has set for several yrs and the motor is stuck, it has 20 inch industrial type tires on it. Truck safe, will let you know if I get it. Tom

Hugh by the time I got back in from my run and got over to the sale the swather had already sold. Someone told me they thought it brought $60. Thanks for the help. Tom

Tom: These spring auctions and trucking don't go hand in hand. A local auctioneering firm here has an annual Good Friday consignment auction. I think this is their 26th annual auction, draws a lot of consignments as well as buyers. I'm already taking steps to make sure my week ends right. There was another 35 miles south of here today, I looked on the way by yesterday, guy could almost get around in a boat in that lot so I declined. Nothing there I needed that badly.

Hugh we have been having some great sring weather here 70's daytime 40's nights. Ground is being worked and some corn is already in the ground. Seems early to me but some things are done differently than now we did in the '70s. Will talk later. Truck safe. Tom

Tom: I going into town in couple of minutes. I know a place I can stop on the way, may have the answer. If that doesn't work I'll do some more digging when I get back. The answer is probably close at hand but you want to sleep on it tonight. I'll get back to you by 9 pm eastern.
