I am getting close to painting some of my BN. I have all the paint stripped off the engine, tranny rear castings, Bolster, etc. I want to paint this part of it as soon as the weather is warmer, so I can ge the chasis rolling and take it from the barn back up to the garage. My plan is to paint all the individual parts, bolt her together, thrn shoot it one last time all together as a complete tractor. In the meantime, I want to get some primer on the castings. But I don't want scratches to show through some other color. Is there a red primer available that is close to the color of 2150?

Take Care
Steve

I used the CIH red primer under the 2150 I used on my SM, and it just about made me cry. It was beautiful, and balances so nicely. CNKS has a point with the gray primer, which I definately don't disagree to, but I haven't done enough painting to truly know one way or another. I do know the CIH primer sure did the job for me.

I used Case/IH red oxide primer with my 1206, Super M, and the neighbors SMTA. Worked very well with those three tractors. It is close to the 2150's color plus it is little more forgivening if you end up a little light in one spot with the 2150. I bought it right at my Case/IH dealer.

Good Luck.

I kind of look at it another way -- with gray primer, I can see what I missed, particularly in hard to spray places. Epoxy primer gives a better base than the Case-IH primer.
