>Link ... a while back I promised I'd convert the hydraulics on my 434. Everything turned out better than I expected without any glitches. Power is spontaneous, and the only problem I could ever expect is a new piston seal, maybe to be changed in 2050 if I'm still around.

Good job Blue lite, but I would rather just pull the housing and fix whatever ailed it.

I did it because a draft spool plunger/"C" clip/sleeve kit which comes in a plastic bag no larger than a cigarette package goes for 250$.

Now I figured that the remaining 150 or so do-dads that sync the position control with the draft system wouldn't be any cheaper. You can thank CASE for setting me in that direction. I have nothing against making a profit, but I think I recognise a price gouge when I see it.

Not sorry I did it, and it's less complicated
than I make it out to be. That's because I wanted to get detailed to help those out who are leary about mechanical stuff.

Odds are you did not need that particular kit. Unless yours was somehow damaged which you cannot know until teardown. All I put in my control valve was O -rings. Anyway I did mine complete for about $300 and I had to buy a new chain link part inside that cost me $100 and you are so right about parts cost gouging on these tractors. I have a 354. There is a metric hydraulic fitting on the power steering cylinder. It is unique and IH wants $50 for this 90 degree fitting! So far I haven't bought it. Sure would like to find one cheaper.

My God, what a lot of work just to get out of repairing what was already there!

Not the repairing that's the problem, it's the finding. After I left 2 CASE shops scratching their heads with my problem, I figured it was time to modify, because experts scratching heads means $$ down the line in terms of time and they even said so.

Sad as it is the CASE people have no clue about these machines. It's not just your dealer. There is no way you could have put your machine in their hands for repairs.
