So the 300 is a runner finally! On to problem two. Ever since I got it, she's had an oil leak out of one of the weep holes underneath the TA casting. Right next to the PTO disconnect plate. Anyway, the TA works fine and doesn't slip. I can see where someone put some formagasket between the sections, so at some point she was split. Why "they" didn't use a proper gasket is beyond me. Anyway, what is the purpose of those two weep holes? Is there a gasket that keeps the gear oil out of the TA section? Can I plug the holes to end the leak, or will that ruin the TA? It only leaks when the tractor runs, and is enough of a leak that it should be fixed. Not a drip-drip-drip, but a drool if you will! Thanks, Zak

I would agree with the others the seals are leaking. If you plug the holes then oil will fill up where the t/a clutch is at if that happens then the clutch will slip and be ruined and your t/a will only work in the low side. I would either let it leak or fix it by replacing the seals. I have a 300 that leaked for close to a year before I tore it down to replace the seals. It is a pretty big job but worth doing. BTW the new the seals are alot thinner than the new ones and some poeple use 2 of them together, not sure that it is needed but thought I'd pass it on. Brian

The weep holes keep your T/A clutch dry. If you plug them, the T/A clutch will fill up with oil- which is bad if you want your torque amplifier to work. Looks like you have a leak inside the the housing between the T/A gears and it's clutch- $5 seal, lots of labor to get at it.

The gasket sealer used on the bottom cover plate seals better than the original paper gasket. I have paper gasket installed on my 300, and it leaks.
