On my M the battery holder is connected to the left frame rail, so there is really long batt cables. I want to put the battery back under the tank, cause it looks like crap on the rail. Under the tank there is a piece of flat bar that is bolted to the houseing. Now, is that for something else or is that for a battery? I think if i get longer bolts then the bar could go over the battery and i can bolt it down. And if i put the battery under the tank i would have shorter cables and get more cranking power out of the 6v, will put an 8 volt on though.I want it orig. How do you guys have it connected? Thanks in advance

When you mount it back under the gas tank, be sure to get a battery short enoungh to put the top on the battery box. It is a real thrill to see your tractor upside down with the only thing between the battery posts and the metal gas tank being a layer of paint.

There should be two round heads that stand off the deck plate under the gas tank on the clutch side. The original battery box would drop over those and catch them in two slides. The bar you are refering to has a bolt hole that matches a tab on the battery box. This was for a bolt or pin to keep the box from sliding out in the way of the clutch.
