Super C charging question...

I got a small problem that I hope you guys can help with. I put a rebuilt generator and new voltage regulator on my tractor within the last year. A few weeks ago, I put a new exhaust manifold on this tractor and the governor rod got stuck wide open. When I started the tractor the engine ran full throttle, which caused my generator to "blow/vibrate" the band off of it, and it hasn't charged right since.

My question is where would the problem be? Do I need a new voltage regulator or to take the generator to get it rebuilt? What do I need to check?

Jesse - If I were to guess I’d say the momentary overspeed caused something to spin off the generator armature - thus accounting for the dust band being knocked off.

Suggest you peek inside commutator end of the generator and look for obvious damage like a loose connection to a commutator bar, broken wire, that all (3) brushes intact and in position, etc.

If you see nothing obvious suggest then working thru the troubleshooting chart (punch below) to isolate source of the problem.
