Hi there! I have two fairly "unique" Farmalls. I have a 1950 M with the M&W Hand clutch and an H with the 9-speed and Live Hydraulic Pump. how common are these options. Is it rare to have an M with the Hand Clutch or an H with a 9-speed Trans? How many of these are out there? Thanks for any info!

It can be done the other way around too. On top of that you can put both the 9 speed and the hand clutch/live PTO on the same tractor whether it be a H or M. I have already done it.

Those after market items are not that rare. Thousands were sold and can still be found by those looking for them.

However, after having said that, I don't recall seeing either accessory at the Red Power Round Up last year. There were probably at least 100 H's and M's there.

I have a good idea with how the hand clutch works. How do you go about "converting" one to 9 speed. That sounds like a pretty big deal.

We have an M with both, plus the original wide front. Maybe I'll have to get it running and bring it down to the show in June. The hand clutch is handy for pull starting someone or winning slow races.
