While repairing the block on me tractor, I decided to clean it up and fix the steering. Does the steering wheel shaft pass through the front of the box?

I was under the impression that the Super A steering box was non-adjustible. Mine has about a half a turn in it. How did you fix yours if it had a lot of play in it? This is my first attempt at restoring a tractor.

You may find that the keyway on the shaft is worn, also the key itself and the sector grear key slot. You can have a machine shop widen the keyway in the shaft and the sector gear. Then put in a new wider key. I have a A with tight steering and Super A that I had to repair the shaft. Don't know why.
