Interested in purchasing a Super M (stage II?) thats for sale in Canada.
It has a torn, nearly destroyed serial tag.
My questions are: Were all Super M's built in USA at Rockville or Louisville? Or were some built in Canada? Also, if interested in getting re-production tag, where would I find? Thanks,
Jon

I am in the same boat with the same kind of tractor, the last half of the tag on the one I found is not legible. Will this hurt the value? What is a stage II? Thank you

I don't know if it will hurt the value that much, the serial number was stamped, perhaps if you clean it up real good you can make out the number. You can get a new serial tag stamped with the number if you can make it out, keep the old one for verification. The stage 2 had a live hyd pump in front of the distributer, hyd resevoir under the gas tank and the battery under the seat.

As Scruffy said the Louisville models will have a 6 digit serial number. The prefix (painted, not stamped) will be SML, whereas the rest have a prefix of SM and a 3 to 5 digit serial number. If you can't make out any of this, look for an "L" on the castings, may be upside down on some castings. My C (made at Louisville) has L on most of the castings.

The L on the serial tag may be stamped -- I haven't actually seen one. Super M's from the Farmall plant may have an F preceding the serial number.
