Hi. Just wanted to say thanks to you guys. I hardly ever post here, but I sure learn alot just reading. You guys are great. My question is does someone make a friction type throttle for an M. Mine currently has the old tooth style that is getting pretty worn and I would like to replace it. If one is made where could it be found and about how much is it? Thanks alot
Ray

I bought one off of ebay for around $20. it is a reproduction of the M&W friction throttle and seems to work fine. I just put it on a few weeks ago.

New tooth styles are still available from several places. One is OEM Tractor Parts -- 800-283-2122.

Ray if you don't find a new throttle plate here are some suggestions. Sometimes adding a washer to the underneath where the throttle handle attaches with the cotter pin will help shim up the throttle, a new spring will help. Also on the wear surfaces you can build up with a bead of weld. the inner end of the throttle handle 90's up against the plate, if it is worn , then the throttle will jump out of the notches and flop back to idle. Run a bead of weld across this surface and grind it smooth, this rejuvenates the throttle handle and keeps it level so it is less likely to jump out of position. You can also take a file and clean the notches up a bit...this doesn't beat replacing with a new plate but I have kept my H working fine with a rainy afternoon "play" with the throttle and its working as new...Mike in Exeter Ontario

E-bay usually has a ton of them under vintage farmall tractors and I have bought several worth the money for my red stuff.
