We have a 3588 with an aftermarket transmission brake linkage. One of those with a spring in it. The trans brake wasn't working worth a darn, so I went through all the work of getting to it. Came to find out that the pad on the old brake lever was still pretty good. It wasn't very rough, but plenty of pad left. Has the spring gotten weak in the linkage, or is something else the culprit? Thanks guys.

Your problem is probably the spring, it may have gotten weak over time. These trans brakes are just a little better than nothing even when they work. I know it is a pain in the butt to work with on the 3588, these tractors are a pain too!

Oh ooh, RB. Don't say that, we just got it. You have one also? I think I am just going to get a linkage out of a salvage yard and eliminate the spring. I think they are the same as a standard 86 series. What, out of curiosity, are some things to watch for with a 3588?
