Has anybody ever seen an F-12 that has a single 12 inch wheel in the front. Anybody know what they used it for? Thanks for any and all info.

Thanks for all of your info. Sounds like it could be original. I just needed a little help determining if it was an option or an aftermarket special. Thanks again and to all have a nice day.

My dad had a 1935 F-12, came on steel with single front wheel. It was 10-12inches wide with a 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 angle iron strap around middle of wheel so it would not slide when turning sharp corner. I learned how to drive a tractor with it and spent many hours on it growing up.

I'd love to say no but I have one in my shop that I have just started work on, I'd think it was so it didn't sink in to the ground in wet or soft conditions

There several around where they planted in the lister rows and middlebusters soforth as there wasnt room for double front tires. Even had steel ones before rubber.

Yep, #1 son has a '36 F-12 w/single front. Its an 8.50 X 10, I think. Looks like it came from the factory that way. We replaced the tire with an airplane tire as the one that came with the tractor was just a rag. The one we used came off of a Piper Cub, I think. It doesn't steer bad, but will slide in soft ground. Chris - Never anything like that on an F-12. However we installed fat single fronts on a Super M, Oliver 1650 and JD 3020 when running two row mounted corn pickers. A local welder made the front "fork" assemblies then fitted them with used aircraft tires from an airport FBO. The fat tire worked great - especially in soft ground. But you HAD to have power steering!
