Hi Folks,
My Brother in law up in central Wisconsin is restoring his Dad's C and converting it into a super C. He says he needs a flywheel. Does he really only need the ring? Any advice on a good place to get one?

Thanks Much,
Marc in Iowa

Marc,
There are quite a few differences in the C and Super C, enough that it is not practical to try and convert one to the other (look in the archives here or study a parts book). But if you mean he is installing an overbore piston kit, fine. On the flywheel assy, it is made up of two pieces, the flywheel and a ring gear. If the flywheel has small cracks under the clutch area, it can usually be resurfaced at a machine shop; if the problem is the starter motor had been grinding away at the teeth on the ring gear, then yes just the ring can be replaced to solve that (some even just flip the ring gear over and rotate it a little to get good teeth facing the starter again.).

Stan,
Thanks very much for the information about the flywheel and ring gear. It is very much appreciated. Yes, he is only installing an overbore piston kit. I hope his tractor turns out well. Have a great day!
Marc
