Rich: The very best and sure way using a carpenter's 2' square is measure perpendicular from one landside to the next. Precission is not necessary here as most plows are either 10, 11, 12, 14, 16 or 18 inch. As riverbend states there are a few plows out there that can decieve you. On most if not all IH plows you can just measure from one beam to the next on top of plow. The plows with offset beams are quite obvious, plus most of them have different color paint.

Measure PERPENDICULAR across the plow, from the center of one plow beam to the center of the other plow beam.

Some JD plows (44s) had offset shanks, so you will have to add or subtract that from the beam measurement.
