The rearmain seal on my Cub has gone out and I am trying to figure out the best way to replace it.Can it be replaced without splitting the tractor?
Thanks

I am no mechanic but did help my cousin on his. You have to split it, make some stands to support it. Also use some good grade 8 threaded rod or long bolts in place of the bolts bolting the bell housing to the rear of the block. This way, the tractor won't wobble and you can pull it back together (We tried to roll ours back and couldn't get the shaft in, we used long bolts and pulled it in so easily!!. Replace the clutch, pan gasket and rear cover, oil pump (If it is bad) because you are in there anyway.

Thanks for the info, I gues I know what I'll be doing for a few evenings. I split my 580B case twice so the Cub doesn't seem so bad. The long bolts is a good idea
