The IH 606 hood will not fit a 504 as the 606 hood is longer to cover the 6 cylinder engine. A 504 engine has 4 cylinders. Don

I am aware that that a 606 is a six cylinder. That info is right in the name of the model. The number of cylinders has nothing to do with the lenght of the hood. You need to look at the space between the water pump and radiator on a 504 to understand that there is alot of wasted space there. I would never categorically say that the two hoods are not the same lenght without using a tape measure. If someone is having a hard time locating a 504 hood, he should consider all options.

Hmmmm, I'm sorry if I touched a nerve of some kind. I only pointed out that I know for a fact that the 606 and 504 hoods are not the same. It's not a goal of mine to anger anyone, just trying to share information. I have in fact fabricated some of my own sheet metal to replace missing/lost pieces from our tractors over the years. Don

Don't over look the 404 sheet metal. I believe it is the same. The CT Farm and Country catalog confirms this. I think that my spare 504 hood was lifted off a 404. It has been a few years.

606 also shares some of the same sheet metal. The 606 hood probably has exhaust and air cleaner holes in a different position from the 504.
