Just started on my F-12 looks like a sleeve kit, mag etc. cost around $1000 for all the parts to fix it up. Question is do I spend the money or just part it out?? Its on steel wheels and the engine is stuck, all there but has a few broken parts, I plan on fixing it up to sell but can I get my money back if I restore it???

I have fixed up several F12's and they are a royal money pit. And when they are completly done , what do you have? In my opinion they are $1000 tractor, completly restored, on a good day. On steel they are miserable to drive and hard to transport. Just my 2 cents worth.

I agree with Andy. Seems like a complete restoration tends to add up to a little more money than what you can actually sell it for afterwords. Sounds like this tractor is a fixer upper though, with steel wheel's and all. Probably be your best interest to sell it to somebody that is willing to spend the money to fix it up and keep it, if you don't want to. Anyways that is what I would do. You could part it out, but once the wheel's are gone you will likely end up with a sizeable bone pile of parts that you won't sell which means scrap metal price is what you will get for the rest. Make sure you know what the wheels alone are worth before you sell it. Also figure out what the rest of the tractor is worth to add to the wheel's value. Coming up with an accurate price to ask for it will ensure that who you are selling to isn't going to make a quick buck and not fix it up. Just my 2 cents.

My experience has been "fix up and sell" is not a money-making enterprise.

But it is a lot more satisfying than parting out.

You might do better to sell to someone who wants to fix up and keep.

Money is made in tractors by "patch paint and sell"

IMHO
