OK, I know this is the International board, but I am looking for a honest comparisons here. I posted this question on the Case board and hardly anyone wanted to help me out, so maybe you IH guys can? I am going to buy a 4-wheel drive this spring and have narrowed my choices down to either a 1976 Case 2470, or a 1977 International 4386. How do these tractors compare with one another as far as Engines, transmissions, and overall problems with them? Which one will have a more comfortable ride? Best power? Anyone have any experiences with either of these, good or bad? Thanks, Thom

Years ago I bought a 4386 from a gentlemen who had just purchased a Case 2670. He liked the crab steering feature on the Case because he farmed a lot of hilly ground. The 4386 we purchased from him turned out to be a very good tractor. We were both happy with what we had.

The 4386 will have a better ride because it is longer in whell base and has less turning parts . The case will get around in tighter spaces with the 4 wheel steering . Myself i like the 4366-86 better because it is a basic tractor and less ware points the center bushings and pins are the main ware point on the case you have a ware point at each wheel plus the seals and u/joints to worry about plus the power shift , on the I H it is simple a standard trans a clutch and two hdy pumps and two drive axels and a engine that is less expencive to rebuild. . Just my two cents worthe . Tv.
