Did IH make 856's and 806's with turbos from the factory? I have seen one 806 with a turbo decal but have never seen a turboed 856. When were they made and how many?

None ever came from factory with turbo, but you can simply get the Turbo decal and put it on your tractor. Many M&W kits for the 806 are used versus any other kind. However, because of the 1256 and the 1456, many 856s have IH turbos, they just didn't come with them from factory.

IH never built an 806 or 856 with a turbo that I know of. It probly is a M&W add on kit. You can tell if its M&W if it has a small spin on oil filter in the oil line.

A neighbor of mine has an 856 "Special" with a cab, auxilary belly tank and a Turbocharger (the special is where a 1206 decall would appear). According to implement dealer records, all factory options. I also have an 856 and his was made the same year as mine but had a totally different serial number sequence. My grandfather ordered our 856 with tilt wheel and a hydralic seat, also the only one like it in the county. Although rare, i would rather have a fixed wheel because years of grabbing the wheel to climb up sure has taken its toll. It now tilts up down left and right!I guess our county is the land of odd 856's.

To fix your steering wheel just pull it off and replace the brass bushing done one ona 1066 took about an hour.
