I am not trying to sell my 450 on this board, I posted it in the classifieds...But, I am wandering about these people that are inquiring about it. I am wandering how this "scam" works, a guy is willing to send me a cashiers check for $3300 more than I want for it, then I am supposed to send the remainder to his "shipper"...My question is this, If he sends me a check, I cash it, then send him the remainder, how will I get screwed, when someone still has to pick my tractor up, even after I have the money?...Just wandering, has anybody went through with these to good to be deals?...-Scoob

Not too long ago I sold my 350 utility to a guy down in Tennesee. I was only asking $750. I was straight up with the guy about everything, how it set for 10 years, and how I managed to get er goin again. I received 2 emails from people overseas saying they were going to send a check for $7000 for the tractor, and I decided to take the safe way out. There are a lot of scams that come from overseas, so if you do go with it, take extreme caution.

Thanks for the heads up, since I posted this, I haven't heard from this guy...so that leads me to believe that you are right in saying that these scammers are monitering this board...it's a damn shame that people are willing to screw the nicest bunch of people, such as the ones on this board, I won't mention his name that I recived these e-mails from, but some day he WILL get his...-Scoob

Scooby: One item you should always remember and tell these guys is, " As a seller of goods I see no reason for getting out my check book." Just watch how quick they hang up. In fact when I advertize something which is seldom, I never get calls from these guys. My guess is they monitor who is saying what at YT.

Scotc is correct is correct, as cashiers checks can be forged -- this is one of the older scams, I am amazed that it keeps showing up.

What they are counting on is that you will deposit the check, wire them the difference, and they will be gone with your 3300 before their check bounces. It all has to do with timing. If you try depositing, and wait till it clears before sending the 3300, you'll have to swollow your pride a bit but you'll still have the money.
