As Brooks said look for casting numbers, as they will give you the date the particualar part was made. All castings will have different dates on them, your tractor will have been assembled anywhere from a few days to a couple of months from the date of the latest one.

Go around to the right side(if you are standing behind the tractor) and look below the brake pedals, there is a stamp with a number then another number and a letter(ex: 7 5 Y)July 5, 1953. The stamp is attached to the tractor with 2 screws. This shows the date the tractor was built.

The letter is the year, Z is 1954, count backwards from there to get your year.

Hope this helps.

Both U and W were used in 1951 and V was skipped.

It is not a diesel. It is either a kerosene or distillate model. The small tank is a starting tank for gasoline. When warm it was switched to the other fuel. These days it runs on gasoline only, unless you want to mess with kerosene, distillate is not available. Your tractor is somewhat unusual in that it still has all the parts -- don't toss them!

By the way, your tractor is a late 1943, engine serial and chassis serial were the same until late 1945, so you can get a new reproduction serial tag if you want to.

Your M is a 1947, I looked at the wrong page, I don't thing the engine serial is the same as the chassis serial -- sorry.
