Should I keep the T/A lever pushed forward or pulled back on my 656?
Can anyone give me insight to the use of the T/A what to do and what to avoid?
thanks
TJ

I used to do a lot of plowing with our 656,what
I used it for was to slow up at the headlands
to get the plow raised & lowered ( 4-14" )
semi mount plow, then back to direct drive once
I had the plow leveled out again.

TJ the TA is like a HI Lo that can be shifted on the go don't nee the foot clutch forward id HI back is LO and Hugh is right about adjustment, but use LO only under load and when you shift do it fast.

TJ: Keep it well adjusted by the book and to the letter, close doesn't count with these. Use it in which ever range you like. Shift it quick, and never let it free wheel on the low side. Do those things and it will give you many years of trouble free service.

Hugh thanks for the comments but what is the high side- forward or towards the seat? Do I shift it with the clutch in at a full stop or on the fly? What do you mean by freewheel? Can you explain when I would use the high or low side?
Sorry for so many questions- my manual has yet to arrive.

Forward is direct drive, back is TA, when it is in TA with no load going down hill it will freewheel letting the tractor run away. [Georgia over drive] Normally use the high side, as long as you are under load so it won't freewheel you can use the low side. exampel you are plowing on high side tractor starts to pull down pull the TA lever back it is just like shifting to a lower gear. No you do not use the clutch.
