I just bought a 48 farmall H, and it shifts into all gears just fine, but unlike my friend's H which has the gear patern on the floorboard in raised numbers, mine has nothing. Can anyone give me a place to find the gear patern online or something?? Thanks a bunch!!! Kippster

Thanks Guys!!! Now I have written it down on paper and plan on painting it onto the platform with white IH paint!! That way my wife won't run it through the side of the barn!!! I'm picking on her. I've done worse..... LOL Thanks again!!!

I had a 9 speed H that had the top plate like your freinds, it did not have 5th gear, only 4 and reverse. It was a cable shift 9 speed. it was a 40, or 41 model. ChadS

No 5th probabaly means it came with steel. 5th gear was locked out for steel wheeled Hs and Ms.

And there is a long bolt under the left side of the fuel tank pedestal. You can remove that and put in a shorter bolt to unlock and use 5th. The gear is in there and will be new.

Your friend must have a early H. The 39 and maybe 40 Hs had the shift pattern molded into the platform.

The shift pattern is available on a decal, mine has one stuck on the light bar. My H came with all the decals, so I've never had to find any online, but they are available from a number of sources. (Do a search.) I don't know if they're available individually or only as a set, might vary by source. Good Luck
