It's that time of year again, time to get ready for those tractor rides. Does any one have a good idea on how to build/install a buddy seat on a Farmall M?

rusty - If you post an email address I can send you photos of about a half dozen different buddy seat arrangments I've seen at shows/parades.

OK, here it is. Thanks for the reply, I really don't feel like it is right to leave the wife at home while I am out having fun, especially since she is the one who will be buying the gas.

Rusty, There's another way to solve the seat problem so as to have your wife enjoy the same fun as you and that is to get her a tractor like yours with a seat of her own. She could drive it right along side you, or ahead or behind you. Even if you are using it for farming, and both of you are out in the field, you can both have cell-phones to chat back and forth, or at the very least, blow kisses back and forth as you pass eachother. To all you smart alecs who may reply, the answer is NO, middle finger greetings don't count.

I made one for my MD using a bicycle kids jump seat from Wal mart, a piece of two inch rigid conduit, some heavy 6 inch angle iron, u bolts and other miscellaneous bolts. It's only good for kids up to 40 lbs. The bicycle seat had a harness in it. Angle iron is bolted to the axle holes. Conduit to the angle with u bolts. Another piece of angle at the top of conduit with U bolts. Seat is bolted to the top piece of angle. The conduit extends up so the kid has to straddle it and provides a something to hold on to. Could put a steering wheel on the top of conduit, but I just covered the end with a PVC pipe cap. Next time I have the tractor out, I'll take a picture and post it.

I would think that the safest way might be to install a set of sturdy fat-top fenders and then mount grab rails on them so you passenger could hang on.
