I hear the gang in Kenton Ohio have a 1953 Super H at their consignment sale
this coming weekend.

I haven't seen it but they say it has
a new paint job, fenders and decent tires on it. I assume it runs ok, or they wouldn't have painted it. Any rough
idea of the value?

I've been wanting an H, but the Super H
would go well with my 53 Super C, and I
could use it too. Not sure if I'll get
to the sale or not.

John

Also make sure it's really a Super H. Sometimes people will put Super H decals on a plain old H.

"I assumed it runs ok or they wouldn't have painted it" Nope! They painted it hoping to get a better price. Steam clean or pressure wash all the leaking oil off, stand back an paint it, sell it before it becomes covered in oil, etc. I would rather buy a rusty one.

Absolutely....There is nothing more sweet than a good original. Nothing hidden, no surprises.

It all depends on who is at the auction. I bought a 53 SH in great shape with excelent tires about 1 1/2 years ago in a small central Kansas town for $925. It was a small sale and not many people were there. The only thing that I have done to it is wash it. Once I have completed every other task I might give it a new coat of paint but just because I don't have anything else to do.

Just because it looks good doesn't mean it is good. A quick paint job takes about 2 hours and will cost maybe about $50. Look it over carefully.
