I am going to put a 8 volt batt on my M, i called the battery shop and said an 8 is $99 CAN, and that i have to change the regulator to 9.2volts for it to work right. What do you guys do for 8 volt batterys? Just stick them in or do you set the reg? if you do how do you set it at 9.2. thanks in advance.

DON'T. I tried that on two tractors and it was more trouble than it was worth. Convert to 12 volt or tune your 6 volt system. I prefer the 12 volt. That is why the manufactures switched years ago.

Worked on one a while ago and they did nothing except changed batts. I replaced oil slinger gear and pilot bearing. Batt was charged and they said it had been that way for several yrs with nothing changed.

All I have ever done is to put the 8 volt battery in and go. Best thing to do is change it over to 12 volt. It will realy turn it over.It is easy to do. It should end your starting problems.
