rebuilt a couple of carbs the other day for Ms. went to start the first tractor today and no gas, gave me fits for seveal minutes. I thought maybe the float was hanging up. tinkered a while finaly decided it was just the new vicon float valve sticking. I was about to throw it away and put the old brass valve back in when it started working. Guess I got enough dirt off my hands on it that it wouldn't stick any more. First time I ever saw dirt FIX something!

I once overhauled a carb for an Oliver 18-27, which is every bit as difficult as you might imagine. Reinstalled it and started the tractor. Didn't sound good and after some spastic trips around the yard, I stopped, removed the carb and uninstalled the sweat sock in the intake side.
So glad I'm not a doctor!

First off you forgot the first rule of fixen old tractors or anything else , A BIG HAMMER. I have had the venton tips stick before it usualy happens whiel setting the float hight and you add a littel tomuch pressure to the float and it gets set in and the weight of the float is not enough to break it loose make sure that it is hanging down while putting the top half with the bottom and all will be well .
