I'm looking at a 1947 Farmall H tractor, narrow front runs very well (has been converted to 12vt) starts on one quick push of the starter button, has a mag and decent tires except one rear one , newer paint and decals. It doesn't even smoke a bit. Here's my problem, i don't know if $1,200.00 Canadian is too much for that one since it needs a rear tire and battery box? Thanks for any advice!!

Jeff, I am north of Hugh about 45 minutes, I have two H's. I don't think $1200 is out of line here for an H, I saw one sell at a farm auction last spring and it went for $3350, excellent condition but the wrong shade of paint. Hugh suggested Ontario Used Tractor Parts, just up the highway about twenty minutes from me, Steve likely has everything you need, battery boxes are in stock, lids for battery boxes, and likely he will have a good used rear tire. E-mail me for details when you get the tractor, better yet come down to Exeter and I can take you to three tractor wreckers all with in a half hour of me..... .Mike in Exeter Ontario

Jeff: From your description it sounds like a decent price. If you look around a bit, it should possible to match your good tire with a used one for $100. or so. I cut one badly on my 130, didn't really want to match the other one with a new tire. I found a 12.4x24 in Fingal for $50. no breaks and 50% tread. You will see battery boxes floating around shows this summer, even new ones are not a bad price. Give Steve at Ontario Used Tractor Parts a call. He either has them or can get you one.

Where abouts in Ontario are you, have to establish contact with local old iron buffs.

Hi Hugh!
Thanks for the advice, I think I'll pick that tractor up before someone else does. I'm about 1 1/2 hrs directly north of Toronto in Orillia Ontario, where are you located??
