Anybody tell me how good a tractor an 886 is?
Found one for sale...It looks like it has been completely gone through. Excellent paint, cab. Clean as a whistle & no welds, dents etc. (still have to get some more info tomorrow)
How are they for loader work?
How much would it cost to add a loader to it?
They are asking 13,000.

THe 886 is areal good tractor,I used to own one. The only reason I sold it was because sold the farm. If you want to make it more fuel efficent, add a turbo. That's what I did, used a tubo made by M&W added 20hp and cut fuel use to 3-4 gal. per hour compared to6-7 gal. per hour.Nothing else was done, just added turbo (I had 360ci. engine). Have a good day.

Gorilla: I think it is a bit high. Check out a site called Iron Solutions, will give a good comparison.

886 is an excellent tractor for loader use and light field work. $13,000 does sound high, but not unheard of. My brothers traded theirs on a 7120 and "on paper" got almost $14,000 in similar condition to the one you describe but with well over 20,000 hours (only about a 2000 hrs on the most recent overhaul). The actual "cash differance" was probably about $10,500 because that is what they offered it to me before trading it. How many hours are on this one?

Dad has one of the last 886's made, it has less than 2000 hours on it at this time and is used mainly on a big round baler and a loader in the winter to load hay. Very nice tractor, he bought it at an auction in '94, the tractor had 900 hours on it at the time, was always shedded and looked like brand new. He had to pay a premium for it, over 20 grand as a matter of fact but it has been an excellent tractor so far. Only problem was with the ac system.

As for loader work, only drawback is the shifting on these tractors is not the greatest.
