i have a 1953 Cub Ser. 167522 J. Now for the question. what is the big J at the end of the end of the seriel number for? any help would be apreciated. thansk and god bless

The answer is correct. The "J" was appended so that the service technicians/partsmen would know that a particular Cub was equiped with a Rockford clutch and not the Auburn. Otherwise the tractor would have to be split to tell the difference.
