Cub Transmission Question

I have a 1951 Cub that I have to replace the main transmission shaft on. Now that I have it apart, I want to change the bearings. How do you get the rear bearing out? My I&T manual shows nothing. It looks like it has some sort of keeper on the differential side, but I can't seem to get it out. Any help is greatly appreciated. Spring is on the way and I need the tractor. Thanks in advance, Dan.

Dan:

Go to the link below - then to the Blue Ribbon Service Manuals -- those are the real deal -- IH Service Technician Publications.

Beats that I&T Manual hands down. I&T is useful for a few things, but definitely not a teardown of any type.

Hope this helps

Cubber, it's the upper shaft. For some reason it won't just tap out. It looks like it should go back into the differential.

Thanks to all, I got it out. It drives out back into the differential. It has a retainer back there to hold it in. Dan.
