I have a 414 out of a 1066 and i was woundering how much you could bore them. and can you use the same block and use a 466 crank, rods and pistions to give you the longer stroke.

i believe they are going to a 4.75 bore on the now,the block is the same as the others have said but the pistons also have to be changed if you put a 466 crank in it.for a cheap big cube engine get a set of sleeves and pistons out of a 504 case and have them machined-(sleeves are too long and need o-ring grooves added)a set of IH rods and a 466 crack get 540ci.also the 400 series had 2 styles of rods, you will want the slyle with the cap at a angle and a good set of rod bolts.

Red Boy: You don't need to bore the only thing different on a 414, 436 and 466 is crank and stroke, they are all same bore.

The pistons are different. When you change the stroke of an engine you must move the piston pin hole or the piston will either not come ot the top of the sleeve or will pop out of the top of the sleeve.

Jim: I think he knew that, he did indicate using pistons, sleeves and crank, etc. from 466. I never concern myself with something a guy allready knows. You actually insult his intelligence. Wilson advised him the quickest and most efficient way to achive that.

i turned my 1066 engine into a dt466 about 3 yrs ago get yourself a truck works kit and a 466 crank your rods and push rods and head will work . you will need the cam shaft from a 466. and i also used a new fromt balance pully for a 466 engine.
